Bill Grisdale is a pillar in his community. He continues to run multiple businesses at his Brock Road location, and he somehow finds time to work with community organizations as well.
Bill enjoyed moderate success racing off road trucks in the 1970s. Like most fierce competitors, Bill and his friend and mechanic Harry Plastow sought speed anywhere they could. They knew that lighter means faster, so weight shed from their truck would bring faster acceleration and higher top speeds.
They determined that using lightweight fibreglass instead of the heavy steel truck body would save a great deal of weight, and they were right. They found a manufacturer in California capable of serving their needs, but the company was swamped with work. There was also the small matter of exchange rates, shipping, and customs brokers making the idea prohibitively expensive.
Armed with limited knowledge and a fibreglass roller Bill began production of his first fibreglass truck body. The idea was successful, and soon racers demanded he produce their bodies as well. A small shop was built next to his house, and Grisdale Enterprises was born.
The company grew through hard work and reliable service.
Today – more than 30 years later – the fibreglass shop is gone, but Bill Grisdale still works at helping racers in their quest for success. Grisdale Racing Products remains an important part of Grisdale Enterprises, but it makes up just one piece of Bill’s family-run business.
Run together with his daughter Tammy, and son-in-law Adam, Grisdale Enterprises now operates numerous businesses operating on one property: Grisdale Racing Products, Hino of Hamilton truck dealership, Grisdale OK Tire and Auto Service, Grisdale Auto Sales, and Ry-Matt Mini Storage named after his grandchildren Ryan and Matt.
Bill proudly received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the local Chamber of Commerce in 2009, and he still believes in hard work and reliable service to his many customers.
In his 20+ years with the family-run business Adam Lockwood has worked in every area of Grisdale Enterprises. When he joined the company in the late 1980s Adam was a welder by trade, and he worked in Grisdale’s trailer manufacturing facility.
When the company left trailer manufacturing behind Adam was offered the opportunity to move into customer service. It’s been more than 20 years, and Adam has served customers in the automotive service business, tire counter, racing parts shop, auto sales centre and the Hino of Hamilton dealership – all within the Grisdale Enterprises family.
Adam and his wife Tammy have three sons – Matthew, Ryan, and Jamie. All of them are third generation Grisdales working in the family business. Matthew works as Hino truck shop foreman and mechanic while Ryan is focused on accounting and business operations. Youngest brother Jamie works on the logistics side of the business. Regardless of whether it’s business or pleasure – family comes first with Adam Lockwood.
Like his grandfather Bill, Jamie has the need for speed. Jamie races karts competitively, and much of Adam’s spare attention is spent as crew chief for Jamie’s karting.
Regardless of whether it’s business or pleasure – family comes first with Adam Lockwood.
Adam Ross joined the Grisdale Enterprises family in the Fall of 2011. Adam was brought in to oversee the website development, but once the new sites were up and running he was invited to stay on in a sales position. Adam is learning under Bill, and he is excited to finally follow in his father and grandfather’s footsteps in the trucking industry.
Away from work Adam is the voice of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series serving as its announcer since it began in 2007. He has a wife and two sons – Devon is 19, and Connor is 9. Any spare time is spent chasing the boys to various sporting events.

Brennan Didero is one of our senior technicians although he is still quite young. Along with Matt Lockwood – the two are known as the dynamic duo in the shop because there seems to be no problem they can’t solve when it comes to Hino trucks.
The father of one son spends much of his spare time at the gym, and recently retired from car racing.
Matt is a third generation Grisdale. He has watched the business grow in leaps and bounds over the years, and he serves as shop foreman, and he works as a licensed Hino truck technician.
Matt moved into the Hino truck side after spending a few years working around the facility, then in the tire department and briefly as an automotive mechanic. He shows a keen interest in trucks, and he wants to spend time honing his skills as a truck mechanic.
Eventually Matt sees himself working closely with his parents and grandfather in the main office or service counter, but for now he is happiest when he’s hands-on. His mechanical interests aren’t limited to work. He spends his spare time racing a late model stock car at area speedways.
Matt is married to wife Samantha, and they recently purchased a house in Dundas. They are starting a family.
